BRINGING A BIT OF THE SOUTH TO THE BIG APPLE
Anson Restaurant and The Olde Pink House Cook at Lincoln Center
(Charleston, SC) Anson Restaurant of Charleston, in conjunction with their sister restaurant, The Olde Pink House in Savannah, had the distinct privilege to represent the local culinary flavors and prowess of the southeast recently at an event held at the high-profile venue, Lincoln Center in New York City.
The event, A Taste Of Savannah, served as a press preview of the Savannah Music Festival taking place March 27-April 7. Incredible musicians such as Daniel Hope, David Finckel, Wu Han and the legendary bandleader Wynton Marsalis with the Aaron Diehl Trio were featured performers.
Chef Jeremy Holst of Anson, prepared southern small bites including a Pork Rillette, Crispy Pork Trotters over Anson House Ground Grits with PBR mustard, Black Eyed Pea Blue Crab Fritters with Tomato Red Pepper Jelly and a variety of pickled vegetables. Staying true to our roots, all ingrediants were shipped to New York City from local Lowcountry purveyers.
Anson and sister restaurant, The Olde Pink House, were honored to be selected by the event committee as the exclusive caterer for the event.
Just over 100 members of national and local press and VIP’s attented the event which was by invitation only.
The month of March will mark Anson restaurant’s 20th Anniversary of serving locals and tourists alike at their location just off the Market downtown in Charleston. Stay tuned for some exciting events and promotions created exclusively for this celebration.
An Evening with Michael Ruhlman
Tuesday, December 13th, 2011
"Michael Ruhlman is probably the greatest living writer on the subject of chefs -- and on the business of preparing good food."
- Anthony Bourdain - author and host "No Reservations" Travel Channel
On Tuesday, December 13th, at 6:30 PM, Executive Chef Jeremy Holst hosted a dinner with one of the most highly regarded personalities and authors in the food world, Michael Ruhlman.
In celebration of Michael's latest cookbook release, Ruhlman's Twenty: 20 Techniques, 100 Recipes, A Cook's Manifesto, Chef Holst and Ruhlman crafted a five course dinner with a focus on superb ingredients and approachable technique. We welcomed Michael to Charleston, a city he's only spent 3 hours in. He's been eager to return ever since and enjoyed meeting everyone and had a great time talking about the importance of food and cooking in what he knows to be a truly great culinary city.
